“Vocabulary: Teach, Rinse & Repeat”
This is a session about Vocabulary: how we think about it, what we do with it, and – most importantly – how we teach it. In the session we will focus on students by experimenting with some practical classroom activities for vocabulary acquisition. On the other hand, we will examine which classroom methods actually jive with our own beliefs as teachers – namely, beliefs about how vocabulary is best taught, learned, remembered and used.
Adam Bandstra has a BA in English and Post Independence Indian Literature, and an MA in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching from King’s College, London. He also holds the Cambridge Diploma in English Language Teaching for Adults (DELTA with Distinction) and the Cambridge Diploma in English Language Teaching Management (DELTM with Merit). He has been variously an English language teacher, curriculum designer, translator, teacher-trainer, academic manager, business communications trainer, and school principal in the USA, Germany, the United Kingdom, India, and Turkey. Currently he works as a Business English trainer in and around Augsburg and is a committee member for IATEFL’s Teacher Training and Education SIG.
